Writing is an act of joy and freedom. Through our pencils, pens, markers, and keyboards, we can conjure universes, build understanding and empathy, and catalyze change. As our communities take to their homes to mitigate the further spread of COVID-19, 826 National is bringing together young writers and some of their fiercest champions online. We believe now is a good time to write, so we’re providing new writing opportunities and encouragement through 826 Digital and beyond. Let’s take care, stay safe, and write on. Learn more here.
826 Today and Tomorrow Fund: Stronger Together
826 National has raised $325,000 towards our $1,000,000 goal for the 826 Today and Tomorrow Fund to ensure all nine 826 Chapters’ continued ability to serve K-12 students in under-resourced communities who are most deeply affected by school closures. The 826 Today and Tomorrow Fund provides support and platforms for the tens of thousands of students and teachers learning at home today and will enable 826 Network chapters to be prepared for the moment when students once again fill our schools and youth writing centers. While created in response to Covid-19, this fund will outlast our current crisis and is intended to grow with 826 Network.
is presented by The 826 National Network.
826 is the largest youth writing network in the country.
826 National amplifies the impact of our national network of youth writing and publishing centers, and the words of young authors. We work towards a country in which the power of writing is accessible to every student in every classroom.
The 826 Network serves close to 80,000 students ages 6 to 18 each year via 826 Digital and through nine chapters: 826 Boston, 826CHI, 826DC, 826LA, 826michigan, 826 MSP, 826 New Orleans, 826NYC, and 826 Valencia. This work is possible thanks to the support of almost 5,000 volunteers.
