As the car pulled into the driveway, I saw the spitting image of the perfect house for a middle class family in America, with a white picket fence and green grass. Surprisingly, there was also a mural of Maya Angelou, Martin Luther King Jr., and other significant African-American figures. From the corner of my eye I saw an African-American woman, laced in pearls and wearing a pink sweater with a green skirt that ended just above her knees, with jet black curls falling midway down her back.
A wide smile appeared on her face; she looked as if she was being given a second chance at something she had lost so long ago.
