We’re excited to introduce the newest member of our team and graphic designer, Megan Derry!

Megan was first introduced to the 826 Network when she was working at Barkley, an advertising firm in Kansas City, MO, where she worked on brand projects for 826 National. At 826 National, she’ll be focusing on developing our organization’s visual and creative brand online and in print.

Get to know Megan below!

1. What brings you to 826 National?

First and foremost was 826 National’s mission statement. Secondly, 826 National felt like the perfect merge of my love for design as well as my love for writing.

2. What is it about the 826 mission that resonates with you?’

When I was a kid, writing was my most sacred escape. Without my love for writing, I don’t think I would have ever found my love for visual storytelling, better known as graphic design. I genuinely believe that writing is the most accessible way for any kid of any background to find not just a space for creativity but their voice. No matter what field a student may end up in, I believe that a proper writing education won’t only be helpful practically and professionally but emotionally as well.

3. What are you looking forward to building with the 826 National Team and 826 Network in the months ahead?

To help build a fully fleshed out and beautiful brand that feels just as strong as 826 National’s mission statement. I hope to provide all my design expertise to the 826 network and hopefully something that might visually excite the students as well.

4. What was your favorite childhood book/author?

The Tail of Emily Windsnap, by Liz Kessler

5. Outside of my role, you should ask me about . . .

Yoga, your favorite recipe to cook, and almost any tv show ever.
