826 National and Big Class—the youth writing organization that will become 826 New Orleans in early 2018—are excited to offer an intimate exploration of one of the most exciting cities in America: New Orleans! Join us for 826 Voyages: The Big Easy from Thursday, October 5 – Sunday, October 8, 2017. During this special, guided experience, travelers will be immersed in the culture and cuisine of New Orleans by a variety of artists, teachers, and storytellers who work with Big Class. And perhaps most importantly, you’ll get to meet the students, teachers, and other community members who will soon join the 826 Network. Read on to learn more about this incredible itinerary. Whether it’s your first trip to New Orleans, or your 826th, you’ve never seen the city like this!

French Quarter Walking Tour w/ local historian Sarah Waits

Saturday, October 7

Bus tour of New Orleans w/ Big Class history teacher Eric Parrie: We’ll visit important sites for 826 New Orleans, get tours of contemporary art spots like Project BE and Antenna, and experience the grand sweep of the city. Guests will enjoy lunch at historic Carver High School with a performance by the legendary Carver Brass Band.
