826NYC and 826 Boston recently had a very special visitor: award-winning writer, producer, and presenter Cathy FitzGerald. This summer, London-based FitzGerald flew across the pond to discover the magic of 826, and she’s telling the world all about it! On the BBC!

In Kapow!, a 30-minute radio documentary airing Sept. 30 on BBC Radio 4, FitzGerald gives listeners a glimpse of some of the fun, on-theme items available in each chapter’s store — like the “grappling hooks, tights, deflector bracelets, and bottles of anti-gravity,” in 826NYC’s Brooklyn Superhero Supply Company. But, through conversations with chapter staff and several students, FitzGerald also dives deep into the heart of our mission: ensuring students ages 6 to 18 acquire the writing skills they need for academic and lifelong success.

To hear what chapters across the 826 Network are doing to help young writers realize their dreams and develop their writing skills, listen to Kapow! on the BBC Radio 4 website.
