826 National is excited to announce that students across the country will have the chance to become published poets in 2019! In collaboration with Amplifier and inaugural U.S.Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman, we are now accepting student submissions for a Poets in Revolt! poetry anthology, scheduled for publication in fall 2019.
Submissions are open to any student participating in the Poets in Revolt! lesson on 826Digital.com. This lesson, written by 826CHI’s Ola Faleti, challenges students to draw meaningful connections between poetry and social justice. By reading, analyzing, and connecting with poems representing different social justice movements, students will gain basic knowledge of the American Labor, Feminist, and Black Arts Movements, all while writing their own revolutionary poetry.
To enter, submit your (or your student’s) poem using the submission form below. Entries received through April 26, 2019 will be eligible for publication.

Amplifier is a design lab that builds art to amplify the voices of grassroots movements. They work with their community of social change partners, in both the for-profit and non-profit words, to build symbols, language, and distribution strategies that can change the national narrative.
826 National first partnered with Amplifier in 2018 to bring art and teaching tools to classrooms across the world for WE THE FUTURE: Art for the Classroom and Beyond. The initiative featured 10 young leaders who represent 10 diverse movements, ranging from criminal justice reform and queer justice to immigrant rights and literacy. Amplifier is collaborating with Amanda Gorman and 826 National to promote youth literacy.
About Amanda Gorman:
Called the ‘next great figure of poetry in the US’, at 20-years-old Amanda Gorman is a published author and the first ever Youth Poet Laureate of the United States of America. Her first poetry book, “The One For Whom Food Is Not Enough”, was published in 2015 by Pemanship Books. A Harvard sophomore, she has worked as a U. N. Youth Delegate at the UN Headquarters in New York City, a HERlead Fellow in training with girl leaders in D.C. and London, and an Ambassador for the feminist platform School of Doodle. She has been published in The Huffington Post, mariashriver.com, and award-winning anthologies. At 16 she founded the community project One Pen One Page, which promotes literacy and youth activism. Amanda is partnering with 826 National for the We The Future campaign to bring this artwork and teaching tools into classrooms across the nation.
